Note: Stay duration and visa approval are at the sole discretion of the Embassy/Consulate of Japan.

• Consulate General of Japan, Mumbai – Maharashtra, Goa, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Daman, Diu, Dadra & Nagar Haveli.

• Consulate General of Japan, Kolkata – West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha.

Jurisdiction is based on residence address for the past 6 months, not place of passport issuance.

Visa fees are payable at the time of application submission.

• ₹800 per applicant (inclusive of GST – SGST 9% + CGST 9%)

• Payable in cash/debit/credit card at the Visa Application Centre

Service charge is applicable even for applicants exempted from visa fee.

• Visa fee is refunded only if the visa is not approved by the Consulate.

• VFS service charges are non-refundable under all circumstances.

• Completed visa application form

• Valid passport (minimum 2 blank pages, valid for the intended period of stay)

• Recent photograph (as per Japan visa specifications)

• Confirmed travel itinerary (flights + stay bookings)

• Financial proof (bank statements, income proof, etc.)

• Purpose-specific supporting documents (invitation letter, guarantee letter, business meeting details, etc.)

• Visa fee + VFS service charge

• Visa processing is handled by the respective Consulate/Embassy based on jurisdiction.

• Applications must be lodged in the correct jurisdiction, otherwise they will not be accepted.

• Holding a Japanese visa does not guarantee entry; immigration officers may require additional documentation at the port of entry.

• Processing time and requirements may vary depending on nationality, type of visa, and case-specific scrutiny.
